Sarah: Guess what? I'm going to the Amazon rain
forest. You've been there. Can you tell me what
vaccinations I need to get?
David: You'd better get a shot for yelloW fever and,
most importantly, you must take it at least ten
days before your arrival. A shot for hepatitis
is also recommended.
Sarah: What about malaria?
David: There isn't a vaccine for it, but you
should
take antimalaria pills in case you get bitten by-
a contaminated mosquito.
Sarah: And what should I pack?
David: You need to take sunscreen and insect repellent.
You must take light clothing because of the heat.
And it's a good idea to take long-sleeved shirts
and long pants. You'll need them, especially in
the evening and early morning when insects are
at their Worst.
Sarah: It seems a lot of trouble getting there.
David: Yes, but it's worth it. The scenery is amazing, but
above all, the wildlife is fascinating.
