Demonstration
You have just observed the catalysed decomposition of hydrogen peroxide (H:O2). Hydrogen
peroxide naturally decomposes to O2 (g) and H,O (I) at a very slow rate. This rate was
massively increased by the addition of a catalyst, a saturated aqueous solution of KI. A small
amount of soap was added to 80. mL of 35% H,O2,the soap was only there to create the
foam, it did not take part in the reaction. Food coloring was also added to make it look more
not take part in the chemical reaction. The saturated KI solution was added
