About Being a YouTuber
Hey Quinlan,
My name is JR. I'm a YouTuber in Taiwan. I'm working here in Guam with your dad now. I
hear you are 9 years old and want to become a YouTuber. I think being a YouTuber is cool because
people follow you. They want to talk, act, dress, even think like you. But that's a lot of power and
responsibility. Today I would like to share with you the life of a YouTuber.
Here's my work life in Guam. I always get up very early in the morning. Later we have
breakfast at 7, and we group up and set off at 9. We are always using our GoPros, our DSLRs,
looking for something new. And when we're not doing that, we're planning and thinking of the
script. Late at night, we get back to our hotel, wash up, dress down and start editing. I'm not
telling you you have to do it the same, but it takes a lot of hard work just like any other occupation.
However, one thing is even more important. If you have many fans, they will learn from
you. That is a lot of power for one person. There is a line in the movie "Spider-Man" and it goes,
“With great power comes great responsibility." Don't you think so? So when you become a big
YouTuber, you have to ask yourself, "What do I want people to take away from me?" For me, I try
to bring a good impact to people because I believe that is something great.
This is my advice to you. I hope you do well in school, and
learn to become a successful YouTuber.
