ページの一番下の問題 (2)
~ ( ) more books than I have.
many 数えられる名詞(可算名詞)に使う
much 数えられない名詞(不可算名詞)に使う

books は数えられる名詞なので、much は使えません。

失礼します。
① [6] (3) thought(過去形)は間違いとは言えませんが、「日本の受験英語」では had thought(過去完了形)が好まれます。
②最後の問題(2)は、a. much で良いと思います。
比較級(more books)を強調する [much] です。
B: はい、彼は私よりも[ずっと]多くの本を読んでいます。

(2)のmuch か moreの問題について
違う視点でのコメント、勉強になります。ただ、どうしても much more books に違和感を感じるので、さっとですが、自分なりに調べてみました。わかったことをシェアさせて下さい。

much は比較級 more の強調に使われます。
much more 形容詞/副詞
例) much more beautiful / much more faster
much more 不可算で単数の名詞
例) much more money

の場合です。
これが
( ) more 複数の可算名詞
の場合は
many more 複数の名詞
を使います。
