一般動詞の時は did not
Be動詞の時は was not

did notは、文の中に一般動詞があるときに使います。
例）Ｉ did not eat lunch. （私は昼食を食べていません）
was notは、文の中にbe動詞があるときに使います。
例）Ｉwas not hungry.（私はお腹が空いていませんでした）
どちらも過去形の文章のときに使います！

一般動詞を否定するのか、be動詞を否定するかの違いです。

・I played the guitar yesterday.
→I did not play the guitar yesterday.

・I was happy to hear that.
→I was not happy to hear that.

・I was watching TV.
→I was not watching TV.
