若い時私たちは、自分の人生の時間が空気や水のように無限にあり、いくら無駄遣いしても後から手に入ると思い込んでいるものだ。50代に入ってゆく頃、やっと人生には限りがあることに気づく。そして、若い日々をもっと大切に過ごせば良かった、と後悔する。

When we are young, we assume that our lives are unlimited just like air and water, and that no matter how much we waste them, we will get them back later. When we become fifty years old or so, we finally realize that our lives are limited. Then we regret that we should have spent our younger days more carefully.
