青い蛍光ペンが引いてある分についてなのですが、possessedはなぜ過去形になっているんですか？wasと自制を揃えたということでしょうか？

「最初は人間だけが『持っている』技能だと考えられていた」
という訳になると思うのですが、possessedだと
「最初は人間だけが『持っていた』技能だと考えられていた」
になりませんか…？

考え方はあってると思います。
正確にいうとposessed は過去分詞形でskill を修飾していると考えたら方が適切だと思います。
