→｢電話で｣(over the phone)をwith him の後ろに追加
主節
(voice was getting excited)で voice →excited のつながりは不自然です
｢彼の声は→ 興奮してきた｣を読み替えて
→｢彼の声は →興奮のあまりますます大きくなった｣
(his voice got louder and louder with excitement)
または
→｢彼は→ ますます興奮してきた｣
(he was getting more and more excited)
2パターンの主語の設定して訳出できると思います👍
