2つのitの間にカンマを打つと読みやすいと思います。

Out of all the images <presented to it>[<それ(脳)に提示されている>すべての像の中から],
it chooses ((for recognition)) [それ(脳)は((認識のために))選ぶ]
those <that fit most closely with the world <learned by past experience>>[<<過去の経験によって学習された>世界に最もよく合う>ものを]

すごくわかりにくくてすみません。<>は英文で言う直前の、和文で言う直後の名詞を修飾(説明)している情報だと思ってください。

最初のかたまりは副詞節と呼ばれるもので通常カンマを打って区切るのですが、今回のように短かったりするとカンマがなくても正しい文と見なされる事があるようです。
