a lot of my friends はとても良い表現だと思います。
ただ所有格をmyにしたのは、少し惜しかったですね。（また、ここでは所有格は無くても良いかもしれません。）文章の内容自体はすごく良いと思います。現在完了と助動詞も上手く使えていて良いですね!
