ええと、逆になんで続いちゃいけないと思ってる(?)のかが知りたいかもしれないです。

ratherは接続詞と前置詞の用法がありますから、このthanが前置詞と考えれば、two different partsが意味上の主語で、being〜のまとまりが動名詞、be putはbe動詞+過去分詞で受動態です。
