とするときに、カッコにin whichと入るのですがinはなぜ必要なのですか？
また、which isではダメなのでしょうか？

本来なら
This is the house which my grandfather was born in.となります。このinがなければ
I was born the houseとなってしまいinがないと成り立ちません。
今回This is the house which my grandfather was born in.のinはwhichの前にも来ることが出来るのでin whichとなります。
