→　写し間違いだと思います。
なぜなら、"for(前置詞) a long time"(名詞)(長い時間)のように、前置詞＋名詞・代名詞・動名詞となりますが、for long(副詞)はダメです。long(副詞：長く)は単独で使えます。
※この例文のlongは、通常の形容詞(長い)ではなく副詞(長く)として使われている
