答えは2番なのですが、4番と内容があまり変わらない気がしてすっきりしません。教えて頂きたいです。

2番は、歩いて見るだけで感じることができる素敵な歴史がある
4番は、他国からの旅行者が喜ぶような長い歴史を持っている

だと思うのですが、2番が答えとなる根拠は何ですか？？

答えは2番なのですが、4番と内容があまり変わらない気がしてすっきりしません。
→　私も同様に感じます。しかし、詳細に2.と4.の文を見ると、違いが見えてくると思います。
簡単に言えば、historyとpastはよく似ているが、historyとtraditionは別物であるということです。
従って、ささん自身が下線を引いていた本文の最後の文中の the incredible history(素晴らしい歴史)により近い意味を持つのは、2.interesting past か、それとも4.long tradition なのか？になります。もっと絞ると、pastかtraditonか？になります。
結論は、2.になります。
その根拠は、長くなりますが、以下の通りです。

となっているので、
文中のchiefly〜　の部分を踏まえている2が正解です。

4だと、設問のところの反復みたいになってしまいますね。
a他国からの旅行者が喜ぶ
ような歴史を持つから、
b訪問者が魅力を感じる
aとbは反復していると言っていいと思うので、
反復しているだけなのにaがbの理由となるのは、おかしいと思います。

「主として」ということです。
