「私は、ほぼ確信している」
これに
kind of〜
という表現がついているんです。

このkindは
I'm kind 「私は親切だ」ではなくて
a kind of〜「一種の〜」　とかいうときのやつです。
↑これもそうですが、「種類」の話をするというより、断定を避けるための前置きの言葉なんです。

くだけた言い方にすると
「〜のようなもの」とか「〜とかそんな感じ」
と言ってると思えば良いです。
