so that は後ろに主語を持ってこれるが、
so as toは後ろに主語を持ってこれない。

so thatは｢〜なので/だから…｣という接続詞的なやつです、
so as toは in order toと同じく｢〜する為に｣という意味の固い表現です。

I got up early so that I walked to the park
(早起きしたので公園に歩いていった)
i ran to the station so as to catch the train
(電車に乗るために走った)
