の文構造を教えて頂きたいです。自分なりに考えた結果、2枚目の写真のようになったのですが、have difficulty Ving と捉えると、difficultyを先行詞にする際にtheがつくのは熟語としては違和感があります。でも文脈的にはその解釈がぴったりな気がします。
そもそも関係代名詞節はこれで正しいのでしょうか。

difficulty が先行詞という読み方で大丈夫だと思います。
ただ、冒頭の it is ~ which ~ の部分は「強調構文」かなと私は考えました。

今回の例では、元の形を考えて this assumption が主語とみるのがいいんではないでしょうか？
