I think that it is better for freshmen to decide a major by the end of their freshmen year. The reason is that some students are not able to decide what they want to learn before they start their freshman year. Thus, they should learn common education for a year and have time to consider their major. Another reason is that common education is important. Freshmen can obtain a wide range of knowledge by learning common education, and the experience can be a clue to deciding a major when freshmen end. In addition, there is a risk for freshmen that freshmen have to decide their major though they do not have enough knowledge for the major. Therefore, I think that freshmen should learn common education for a year and decide their major by the end of their freshmen year.
