People celebrate St. Valentine's Day both in the U.S. and in Japan.
However, there is a clear difference between the two countries in how this day
is celebrated. In Japan, women usually give chocolate to men, while in the
U.S., both men and women give chocolate to each other, mostly to their
steadies or spouses. In the U.S., women and men also give each other
Valentine's Day cards. On the other hand, in Japan women tend to give men
mainly chocolates and sometimes cookies. In Japan, we have “White Day"
when men give gifts to women in return one month later. In the U.., they do
not have this day.
