Prometheus Bound is a famous play that is considered by most scholars to be the work of the ancient
Greek playwright, Aeschylus. Often referred to as the father of tragedy, Aeschylus is thought to have
written around 80 plays, but only seven survive. One of these is Prometheus Bound.
Based on the story of the Titan punished by Zeus for giving fire to humans, the play contains just
seven characters. It starts with Prometheus being tied to a cliff in the rocky Caucasus Mountains by the
