way. She died at the age of twenty-four. Taylor's
family was shocked at the sudden news.
5 Shortly after the earthquake, Taylor's parents
and their friends worked together to create "Taylor
Reading Corner" in Ishinomaki schools. They also
started student exchange programs. That was
because Taylor loved reading books for herself
and to her students, and she always wanted to
bring people together. Many of Taylor's students
kept on studying English, and some became
English teachers. Taylor is no longer with us
today, but her dream lives on in the hearts of
many people.
6 Every year, many foreign people come to live
in Japan. It is important for everyone to be
prepared for disasters and work together. It is
necessary for us to support each other both in
ordinary times and in times of crisis.
