○a(an)やtheを付けるのはどんな時ですか？
○'a boy'はanじゃないんですか？

発音が母音でないとanにはしません
例えばan hourとか
a やthe などは冠詞と言います。
theをつける時はもう前に出てきている（既出である）か、誰もが同じものをイメージできる時
反対に、a やanは新出の時に使う

まず aとanの違いについて解説します。
a(an)をつける時はただものがひとつということを指す時につけます。
theは日本語にすると「その」のような指示語の役割をします。
次にa boyになる理由なのですが、aをanにする時は単語の最初の文字が「a,e,i,o,u」の母音になる時のみです したがってa boyとなります！
