forとtoの違いから説明しますね。
toは「目的地、終点」を表します。
それに対してforは「方向、向き」を表します。
例えば「go to school」は終点が学校なのでtoを使うのですが、「leave for school」だと「学校に向かって出発する」で、最終的に学校に着いたかは分からないのです。
「子供向けの本」って子供以外も読む可能性がありますよな。向きっていうのはそういうことです。
