For hundreds of years, Haymarket has been
the best place to buy fruits and vegetables in Boston.
Vendors started gathering in this area of Bostons
North End in the mid-1700s. The market grew larger
in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, but almost
wholesalers weren't able to sell to grocery stores. "Just
remember that the fruits and vegetables are usually
very ripe; says Stacy Mills, 30, 'so you need to eat them

And the vendors are much friendlier than salespeople
in a supermarket."
