REOPENING of JOHN HOPPER PARK NEXT MONTH
SPRINGFIELD (June 20) - After years of renovations,it Was announced
yesterday that the much-loved John Hopper Park will finally reopen its gates to
the public on July 1.John Hopper Park, named after the renowned architect
who designed it、first opened to the public 60 years ago. --- [1] ---.
Springfield Mayor Charles Willis said “T am very happy to announce that we
can spend time in our beautiful parK again.“ According to him, the renovation
of the park includes the repaving of the walkways, landscaping,installation of
lights and security cameras, and cleaning of the pond. --- [2] ---.
And the most anticipated part of the renovation is the construction of the
S-story Springfield City Museum and Library, located in the center of the park.
The building will boast a 1.000-seat auditorium. Most of the facilities are
offered for free to the residents of Springfield. Nonresidents can use them if
they pay a yearly fee ($20 for adults and $10 for children). --- [3] ---. The city
is now looking for volunteers to work at those facilities. A great number of
people from Springfield have already signed up. Stephanie Brown,the park
manager, Said that it would be a great opportunity for residents to interact with
each other.
