(3)byの用法の一つに動名詞を伴って手段を表すものがあります。

(4)　肯定文では「too」と「also」を使いますが、否定文では「either」と「neither」を代わりに使います。

John didn't come to the party, and Ann didn't either.（ジョンはパーティーに来なかったし、そしてアンも来なかった。）
　John didn't come to the party, and neither did Ann.（意味は上と同じです。）
