Kenji's Summer Trip
Helloy ! My name is Kenji and I am a junior high school
student in Tokyo. Last summer, I went to Seattle,
USA, for two weeks to visit my host family, the
Smith. Before the trip, I was very nervous because
I had only studied English in class. I thought it
would be diffcult to communicate. The Smiths were
very kind. On the first day, Mr. Smith took me to
a famous market called Pike Place Market. I saw
a fishmonger throw a big salmon ! It was a lot of
fun. I quickly learned that even simple English
words and gestures can help a lot. I also enjoyed
eating American pancakes every morning.
This trip taught me that studying grammar is
important, but speaking is the best way to improve.
When I returned to Japan, I decided to join
the English speaking culb at school to continue
my practice.
